Digital health (Raymedy)

 Self check meridian

Course Coverage

This course equips students with the knowledge and practical skills to use non-invasive pulse wave analysis technologies, such as Volume Pulse Wave (VPW) systems inspired by devices like the Meridian Digital Pulse Analyzer, for self-monitoring health metrics. The curriculum covers the principles of pulse wave analysis, including the use of infrared light fingertip probes to measure pulse waveforms, heart rate variability (HRV), and arterial stiffness indices. Students will learn to interpret plethysmogram (PTG) and accelerated plethysmogram (APG) waveforms to assess cardiovascular health and autonomic nervous system balance. The course includes hands-on training with VPW devices, data analysis software, and applications in stress management and early detection of cardiovascular risks. It also addresses integration with aviation health protocols, such as pilot wellness monitoring, and compliance with health and safety standards.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Utilize VPW devices to perform self-checks for cardiovascular health and stress levels using pulse wave analysis;
  • Interpret PTG and APG waveforms to identify early signs of arterial stiffness and autonomic nervous system imbalances;
  • Pursue roles in health technology, wellness coaching, or aviation health screening, with pathways to advanced health science programs;
  • Develop proficiency in health data analysis, device operation, and critical thinking, fostering lifelong learning;
  • Evaluate the impact of self-monitoring technologies on personal health, aviation safety, and public wellness at local and global levels;
  • Apply concepts from health sciences, data analytics, and technology to self-check meridian systems in diverse settings.

Employment Prospects

Graduates of this course can pursue careers in roles related to health monitoring and wellness, including health technology specialist, wellness coach, cardiovascular screening technician, or aviation health consultant. Employment opportunities exist in health tech companies, aviation medical departments, wellness clinics, fitness centers, and organizations focused on occupational health, such as airlines or air traffic control agencies. Graduates will contribute to promoting personal health awareness and supporting safe aviation operations through non-invasive health monitoring technologies.
