Six Sigma strategies need to use empirical and statistical quality management methods for quality improvement by identifying and removing the causes of defects and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes. It follows a defined methodology and specific goals are set, such as increasing customer satisfaction and minimizing errors.
Lean Six Sigma is a method that improves performance by systematically eliminating waste and reducing variation which are depended on a collaborative team effort. It combines lean manufacturing/lean enterprise.
On the other hand, Six Sigma is aimed to eliminate defects, over-production, waiting, non-utilized talent, transport, inventory, motion, and extra-processing which are called the eight kinds of waste.
TRIZ is invented by Genrich Altshuller in 1946. TRIZ is a Russian acronym for "Teoriya Resheniya Izobretatelskikh Zadatch", literally means "theory of the resolution of invention-related tasks", it was translated into English as "the theory of inventive problem solving".
It is a systematic approach for breakthrough solutions to tough-nut problems based on finding a creative solution if one is possible. New products generation and innovation, everybody can be an innovator.
Practical methodology, tool sets, a knowledge base, and model-based technology for generating innovative solutions for problem solving are included in the area of TRIZ. It is practical for problem formulation, system analysis, failure analysis, and patterns of system evolution. General similarity of purposes and methods with the field of pattern language.
Three primary findings are produced:
Problems and solutions are repeated across industries and sciences
Patterns of technical evolution are also repeated across industries and sciences
The innovations used scientific effects outside the field in which they were developed
TRIZ can be applied in these findings for creating and improving products, service and systems.
Six Sigma and TRIZ can be applied in the management of Chinese Medicine clinic, although there is no direct relation to the Chinese Medicine. Both are all round in modern management, that they are suitable for every business. It is good for quality control, process improvement and systematic innovation for business and staff.
Chinese Medicine was always stereotyped as old fashioned, traditional and lack of effective modern management. By these two methods, its image can be changed and the management of Chinese Medicine clinic can be modernized, systematic and scientific. Modernized management can impulse the enhancement of service quality and the effective allocation of resources.
The enhancement of service quality can optimize customer satisfaction. The effective allocation of resources can reduce waste and save costs. Problems can be discovered and solved as soon as possible.
Mistakes should be minimized and the aim to reducing medical errors in healthcare are highly matched with the doctrine of Six Sigma for many years. The goal of Six Sigma in healthcare includes reducing the extra costs, changing the process of healthcare delivery because of efficiency, and refining reimbursements.
A study which was conducted at the MD Anderson Cancer Centre, that recorded the enhancement of examinations with no extra machines of 45% and reducing patients’ preparation time of 40 minutes; from 45 minutes to 5 minutes in multiple cases.
TRIZ is applied in different industries which include car manufacturers, space agency and aeronautic companies, technology companies and even manufacturer of confectionery.
The most notable example is Samsung who applied the method since 2003. In this year, it led to many new patents. The giant-scale enterprise saved had significant saving in DVD pick-up innovation project.
In recent years, the method has been applied in numerous German industrial companies who has followed the principles of Advanced Innovation Design Approach which requires the knowledge of TRIZ.
Meridian has long tradition in Chinese Medicine which can be traced to Han dynasty (202BC - 220 AD). Life-energy ("qi" in Chinese) run through meridian.
Meridian network can be divided into jingmai (經脈) and luomai (絡脈).
